### The Six Drivers of Knowledge Management
Now it’s time for the big questions, like “Why are you here?” and “What are you actually trying to accomplish?” This is more helpful than it seems. Sometimes, we’re so conditioned to what we see others are doing that we assume we should be doing the same. But the reason you’re here isn’t exactly the reason someone else is. The better we can hone in on what’s driving our desire to manage knowledge better, the more effective we’ll be as we build our custom systems.
Let’s boil down our drivers for managing knowledge into six artificial containers. Please review the PDF below…

…How did the PDF treat you? Hopefully it got you thinking, “Where do I fall within these artificial constructs?” “Am I more memory-driven or task-driven?”

### Your PKM Drivers
How you answer these prompts can help you determine your “PKM personality”. This isn’t scientific. This hasn’t passed academic rigor. But they do provide an interesting looking glass—a sort of curvy fun-house mirror. And just by the very process of reflecting on what we see, we can’t help but come to a better understanding of ourselves, at this point in our lives.
Let’s now introduce the first level of the PKM Pinwheel. It’s kind of like Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs; but instead of going from bottom-to-top, we’ll be going inside-to-outside. You’ll see this in the next lesson.

(PS: And yes, this graphic matches the graphics from the live sessions. So “Idea-driven” prompts are at the center-top in both.)
See how on the top, we go left-to-right with Memory, Idea, then Output?
Then on the bottom, we go from Relationships, Skill, then Task?
